FAQ - User Accounts


Q.1) Why do I need a user account?

A user account is our way of identifying individual customers when they visit our website. You do not need an account if you are simply browsing products, however to be able to purchase online, use the checkout or service centre, you need to tell us who you are!

When you sign up an account, we set you aside an area of our database for you to store your customer details, account details, order history, service log and more. An anonymous user does not have access to these privaleges.

When you visit our website you are required to login your user account. This will create a user session that will identify you for the remainder of your visit. User sessions time out after 20 minutes of inactivity. It is also a good idea to log out of your account before exiting (top right corner). This will help prevent unauthorised access to your account.

Q.2) How do I create my account?

You will notice a box to the right hand side of the Technotronics website, entitled Account Login. Click on the link labelled New Customer Sign Up and you will be taken to the registration page.

Here you will find an online form requesting your contact details and desired account details. Simply submit the completed registration form and your account will be created instantly. The account details will also be email to the nominated email address.

Q.3) Why is my email address my login?

To make life easier for our customers, your email address will be used to uniquely identify your account, hence it will also double as your account login. This saves you from having to remember yet another website login that you may potentially lose or forget.

Simply enter your email address and password to login. It's that easy!

Q.4) Why can't I register more than one account with the same email address?

Since your email address is used to uniquely identify your account, no more than one person may create an account with any email address that is in our database. If we didn't do this, we would not be able to tell one account apart from another!

If you try to enter a duplicate entry, you will receive an error message that asks you to select an alternative email address.

Q.5) What is the Account Manager?

The Account Manager is an online tool which allows you to maintain your account details, check up on previous orders, view your shopping trolley contents, list your service log and more.

You can access the Account Manager menu by clicking on the Account Manager link to the right hand side under Account Login. All features of the Account Manager will require you to have logged in to your account.

Q.6) What if I change my email address?

Not a problem. Even though your email address is a unique identifier for your account, you still have the option to keep this up to date via the Account Manager.

Remember that the same rules apply when changing your email as when you sign up a new account. You will not be able to change your email address to one which is already assigned to another account in our database. Your request will be rejected and your old email address retained.

Q.7) How do I find my lost or forgotten password?

To the right hand side of the web site, under Account Login, you will see a link reading Forgot My Password.

When you click on this link, you will be prompted to enter your account email address. The password will be instantly sent to the specified email address, being the authorised account holder's email address.

Technotronics will not relinquish a password without sufficient identification. If you are not in a position to receive your account password because your email address has also changed, it is recommended that you simply create a new account with your new email address.

Q.8) Can I change my account details?

You can update all your account details easily using the Account Manager. You will find options for changing your Email Address (as above), password, account details and contact information. All changes are updated instantly.

These changes will not affect any previous shopping orders or service bookings, as these records are stored and protected in a separate database table. You will also be able to specify alternate billing and shipping information when ordering online or booking a service call.
